So I havent been active on DA for a while now but I'd like to thank all the people who send me there warm words. I read all your replies and comments. <3
Anyway, here is me getting back to my roots and just painting something intimate and desolate at the same time.
I'd love to hear your stories for this one!

XoXo

I love how you've done so much with what seems like so little here. It's as if you can feel the quiet. :iconexcitedbounce-plz:

This place looks SO familiar to me, same color scheme, landscape positioning...  Though I can't recall where from...  Or is this just a deja vu moment... >> Huh.

Let's see...ahhh....:lightbulb: It's that quiet moment right before something big and predatory bounds in to stand on that rock in the focal point. Or maybe the dramatic moment right before a cowboy or Indian's ghost materializes through the dust....I'm leaning towards my first thought though--I could just see it coming in through the left.... I love the composition, the colors and how the eye travels through the picture. I like the simplicity of it, weirdly enough--a simple subject matter, but the level of detail really makes it shine. The detail of the dirt, the rock to the far left that's black from being backlit, the soft lighting to the far right....It's all wonderful. Excellent work! :)

Amazing, simply amazing...feels like something from Prometheus, yet as serene as a field here on Earth...By the way, any way you can offer this in 1600x900?

I like the colours and the clouds make it appear as tough a storm or something big is approaching.

A story for an empty space is hard to tell.

Well, it's not really empty tho is it? You are looking at rocks, fog, light break, a hint of backdrop..

There's not a heap of narrative drive amid those things....

I read the reply you made to JoshuaNel. I -did- consider that maybe it involved the viewer of the image - I just didn't think you'd be so abstract. It certainly did blindside me, so well done!

Great work man.Though, it does feel like it needs something thats happening, even if it's a solitary horseman riding along.. I understand you wanted it to feel desolated, but it just feels a little empty.
Otherwise I really dig it, I love the textures and lighting.

I dontr want to fall in pointless chliches. Having something there takes away from the core experience which is you looking at a scene. Not an illustration speaking for itself. Just you and the landscape.

I understand what you're getting at.
And I guess having nothing there sparks the imagination for what could be there, possibly around the corner, for you to see.
I'll say this again, this is an amazing work.

Awesome painting! I feel like adventurers are going to come walking in, and then face off with a giant monster guarding a treasure. Good job :D
